The Challenge

When I joined WildCat Ridge Sanctuary in 2018 to redesign their website, I quickly identified other areas needing improvement: outdated technology, a poorly maintained donor database, and fragmented fundraising. As a small non-profit, WildCat Ridge lacked resources in these critical areas.

Short Term Solutions

I redesigned the website with UX best practices, modern design, and integrated analytics, Additionally, I evaluated and added a WordPress donation plugin. Then I created a newsletter calendar to balance asks, updates, and stories for better engagement.Other tactical projects:

  • Created a brand guide to be used consistently across all channels
  • Defined online communications strategy and content creation
  • Launched and grew our monthly donor program
  • Set up Shopify as a platform to sell online merchandise

Strategic Initiatives

As Board Chair, I created an agenda template to structure meetings. We also moved from quarterly to a monthly schedule to increase engagement. Additionally, I presented on board development to help transition to an independent board. As Director of Development, I created systems and processes to streamline our fundraising process.

Ongoing strategic activities include:

  • Setting up and executing donor cultivation strategy
  • Evaluating vendors for donor database management system
  • Implementing and maintaining donor database
  • Creating annual fundraising plan and six-year strategy
  • Using data, metrics and user feedback to measure success
